Dearest Rootstalkians,

We want to reach out to each and every one of you with big thanks and admiration for helping us create such an incredible gathering last September. Rootstalk brought together over 700 people from around the world for three days of shared herbal wisdom, wilderness exploration, dancing, discourse, and community. Together we raised enough money to support Cascadia Wildland’s legal battle to save Oregon’s wolves. It was a truly beautiful experience that we will carry with us always.

All of you made this magic possible.

For several reasons that have recently become clear to us, we’ve made the very difficult decision to cancel Rootstalk in 2013 and beyond. Planning a festival of this size is an enormous undertaking. The amount of time, energy, and people power required to do it right is simply immeasurable.

We are working on some very exciting new projects at Mountain Rose Herbs that demand our creativity and attention. We know that planning another Rootstalk would cause us to neglect these important projects that in the coming year will greatly benefit our amazing employees and our wonderful customers.

We are also excited to redirect some of our energy and resources into the many events already happening within the herbal community, both new and established. This is the best way for us to keep the spirit of Rootstalk flowing at this time.

If inspiration finds us in the future and we feel that Rootstalk is an adventure we’re ready to embark on once more, you will be the first to know. So, thank you again to the teachers, performers, volunteers, vendors, the 4-H Center, and the attendees from all of us at Mountain Rose Herbs for your enthusiasm, encouragement, participation, and support of our beloved Rootstalk Festival.

Sincerely and with profound love,

Rootstalk Planning Crew
